Sea Lion Rock in Ria Deseado

Blue eyed Shag

Commmersons dolphins

In the rivermouth of Ria Deseado the Commerson Dolphins arrive for feeding with high tide.

This is the Dolphin Station

The spanish fishing fleet is based here for shrimp and squid fishing. I like them more tied up in the port than in the sea.....

Rockhopper Penguins

Every year i visit the Penguin Island. The most northern colony of Rockhopper penguins come here for reproduction. Here you see me sitting with them in their canyon.

Imperial Cormoran or Blue eyed Shag

On our trip to Puerto Deseado we visit a deserted Island, 20km off the coast. The blue eyed Shags nest here at this time. 2 days ago i visited them. They have 12.000 nests...

Franks Flukes

Just some shoots of my flukes from this trip

Land Excursion in Patagonia

Peninsula Valdez is also the home for land animals such as Maras

and Guanakos

on our trips we visit Pinguin colonys....

Oystercatchers nest close bya the penguins

Argentina is the land of sheep. At this time the herds come together for sheering. The woll production is an important industry. Gouchos take care for them to clean and seperate them...

after sharing the animals are happy to go back to the grasing grounds and jump as fast as they can.....

all this pictures i took during the past week...!

Land Excursion at Peninsula Valdez

The Pico Sport team is always close to Nature. But this time the whale was close to us.
This guy was in nlove with Annette and followed the boat whenever they tryed to get away. So what else can we do and spend some time with this lonesome whale..........

But also other anmials are around such as sea lions at the Loberias....

and elephant seals all along the Valdez coast

On a day with strong wind we went for a land excursion. At Punta Delgada we climg down the dunes....

....to be close to elephant seals. They are around in September and October until November for reproduction.

Jumps in the Patagonian Wind

Sometimes the whales are real acrobats, jumping again and again in amazing formations. With the experienced skippers the boat is soon in the perfect position to take some good shots.

At the end of the day... all calm and curious around the boat. For this sunset we had very close company of 4 southern right whales who did not leave the boat until we had to go back to the port...

Flukes in the Patagonian Wind

We have flukes in all positions... and with all lights of the day, from sunrise to sunset.

My favourite is sweet sunset light... :)
