Blue Whales at Pico

This is the season for the big balen whales. Krill is in the water is comming up with the upwelling at the Mid Altantic Ridge. Until the end of May the baleen whales are our visitors to eat as much as they can from this krill and small fishes.

The sea is full with bluewhales and finwhales. Even humpback whales are around.
Jürgen Pohl was out today and came near a huge Finwale. Enjoy the pictures below......

Robyn and Wade Hughes

Robyn and Wade are frequent visitors of Pico Island and work with sperm whales in the Mid Atlantic.
Wade Hughes began diving as a 12-year-old in Australia and has since dived around the world. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Member of the Explorers Club. Read his book, The Thirteenth Beach.

Pam and Wayne Osborne

Pam and Wayne Osborne from Australia come to Pico Island every year to take pictures of sperm whales. They are involved in whale science as well and do a lot of protection work beside their publications.

Crocodile Man in Costa Rica

Frank and the Crocodile Man

I am in Costa Rica filming with the team. I met a man that lives since 20 years with this 5 m crocodile. See what he is doing.

In Pico we see blue whales and fin whales in each departure and i will come with an update soon. But now enjoy the crocodile man........

When i went close to the crocodile i had a special feeling....you know what i mean. But now we are friends and i will go for some under water pictures soon. We will set up a new photographer trip to this place which is a paradise to take pictures. Beside crocodiles we see all types of frogs, turtles, fantastic birdlife and reptiles. We will arrange a 2 week round trip with the best spots to see all the animals central america has to offer. Contact me for pre information and i will update you by e mail.

Elephant seal photo excursion in Patagonia

Along the beaches of Patagonia 12000 elephant seals find their home for some weeks to give birth. The elephant seal machos create large harems with more than 50 females....Fights are bloddy and spectecular. Join us on our close up trip to the 3000 kg elephant seals.

In this comming September we will have a 10 day special trip on elephant seal and right whale photography.

Beside the seals we will take pictures of sea lions, magellanic penguins, sea birds and southern right whales. Also there is a chance for Orca whales.
